Learning and Study Aids
With some children you may want to develop materials that help them
with studying. You might show them how to outline and create graphic organizers
on paper or the computer. Graphic organizers can easily be designed using
circles and rectangles available in word processors. Your children will
also enjoy creating timelines about historic events.
With the younger ones, you might have them type their spelling and vocabulary
words into a word processor or into a program such as Kid Pix. Let
them enjoy changing the font, size and color of the words and perhaps draw
a picture illustrating the words. The more they have fun with the words,
the better they'll learn them.
Some students may benefit from use of a tape recorder to help them with
assignments such as reading aloud, giving speeches, remembering math facts,
brainstorming, etc.
Presentation programs such as Digital Chisel, HyperStudio, and Special
Delivery can be great encouragement for learning. Children enjoy using
content learned to make their own shows.
